Class Highlights, Spring 2017
Making History: Art, Politics, and the Carbondale Women's March: CP 470B: Art and Activism class held an exhibit and screening of photographs, signs, and stories to document and understand the experience of the march and why people joined the march. Reception: Thursday, March 30th, 5-7 PM, C&P Art Gallery
The Graduate seminar in Media Arts Theory (MCMA 551) and Live Art: Media Art and Interactivity (CP 470D) collaborated and produced a live art performance around Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Called Mary's Creatures, the show conjured up the novel's energies and themes that continue to haunt us 200 years after it was written.
Class Highlights, Fall 2016
Small Town Documentary 2016 exhibition opens on November 29th from 4:30-6:30 PM in the C&P and Journalism hallway in MCMA. The exhibit comes at the end of Prof. Dan Overturf’s Small Town Documentary class where students work in neighboring towns through the semester to create a photographic profile of the town and its people. Pollination, a show of work across two classes -- MFAs in SIU Mass Communication & Media Arts Graduate Programs (Prof. Jennida Chase’ Graduate Seminar: Performance, Installation, and New Media) and SIU's School of Art and Design (Prof. Laurel Fredricksen’s AD 597C: Graduate Seminar: Performance, Installation, and New Media) will be on display Friday, December 9th, 2016 from 6-9PM at Carbondale Community Arts located at 304 W Walnut St, Carbondale, Illinois 62901
