Production Studios

Television Studio A

This 32' x 50' television production studio features a modern lighting system installed in 1998 with dimmers controlled by a two-scene, pre-set console, including a remote focus unit, and a full lighting complement. The lighting grid is approximately 15.5 feet above floor level. The studio walls are lined with 120 feet of black curtains and 120 feet of hanging-sync off-white curtains. Studio A production equipment includes three Hitachi Z4000 cameras and four Sony DXC-D35 cameras and one Genie lift. WSIU-TV local studio productions are split between Studios A and B as needs dictate, averaging an estimated 600 hours of actual broadcast production annually. Several WSIU-TV productions have won regional and national awards. In addition to broadcast production, the WSIU studios together average 18 hours of undergraduate and graduate classroom instruction each week. The television studios and control rooms are set for major upgrades over the next year including the addition of digital switching and monitor wall in Control Room A, and a complete high-definition production build-out in a newly designed Control Room B. A complete equipment list is available on request.

Television Studio B

Our largest studio is 45' x 50'. It features a lighting system similar to that in Studio A, installed in 1999, and shares the Hitachi and Sony cameras and Genie lift with Studio A. The studio walls are lined with 80 feet of black curtains and 80 feet of hanging-sync off-white curtains. In addition to varied broadcast productions and classroom instruction, Studio B is the home of the award-winning "River Region Evening Edition" nightly newscast.
