Graduate students have extended access to newsrooms, media-equipped classrooms, computer and technology laboratories, a soundstage, production studios, resource centers, and broadcast facilities.
Global Media Research Center
The College of Mass Communication and Media Arts houses the Global Media Research Center. Click the link above for more information on the Center as well as links to podcasts of many media scholars', activists' and artists' presentations who have visited the Center in recent years.
WSIU Public Broadcasting
MCMA houses WSIU public television and radio. WSIU provides a service to the region as well as a learning platform for students interested in gaining professional television and radio experience. Related volunteer, assistantship and student work positions are available.

Paul Simon Public Policy Institute
The Institute focuses its efforts in the public policy area on: ethical conduct in government, opportunity and fair treatment for citizens in America and throughout the world and promoting responsible citizenship for all Americans--but particularly for young Americans. Institute director and veteran political reporter, David Yepsen, teaches graduate and undergraduate course work in political reporting in the College of Mass Communication and Media Arts.
Big Muddy Film Festival
The Big Muddy Film Festival, based at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, is among the longest-running student-organized film festivals in the United States. It is dedicated to supporting the work of emerging and accomplished filmmakers and video artists.
Visiting Artist Series
Natioanlly renowned media artists and critics present their work and interact with graduate students through critique and discussion sessions via a visiting speaker series each year.
