The SIU College of Mass Communication and Media Arts and WSIU Public Broadcasting, the public media arm of Southern Illinois University, have partnered to present a summer film and reading program to area children at southern Illinois libraries featuring award-winning Prix Jeunesse International children's television programs.

The films correspond to the Illinois libraries' summer reading program theme, “Have Book, Will Travel.” All film screenings are free and open to the public.

The project advisor is Dr. Dafna Lemish, the Interim Dean of the SIU College of Mass Communication and Media Arts, who is an internationally known scholar on children and media.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and interact with individuals from countries represented in the films, courtesy of the SIU Center for International Education. Special book titles representing the countries featured in the films also will be available.

For more information about the project, contact Beth Spezia at (618) 453-5595,beth.spezia@wsiu.org.
