Gender Equity in Children’s Media

This event will include a presentation by David Kleeman, President of the American Center on Children and Media and executive board member of Prix Jeunnese International, organization devoted to quality media for children globally.  Dr. Dafna Lemish, Chair of the Department of Radio-Television, will present the research she has done with producers in 135 countries on gender and culture.   Also included will be excerpts of television for children from around the world that promote gender equity.  More information will be made available as details are finalized.

This Spring 2011 Chiapas Media Project (CMP) is proud to be partnering with TV Serrana, to organize their first US tour. TV Serrana is the award winning community media project that trains youth from the Sierra Maestra in video production so they can tell the stories of their communities and culture. In the 17 years since its founding, TV Serrana has produced close to 500 documentaries that have won numerous national and international awards.
