ALL ARE WELCOME
Armed with two degrees in history from SIUC, Walter Rodgers says he entered the world of broadcast journalism so he could "try to live some history instead of writing about it".
He set out to accomplish that mission by serving as the White House Correspondent for Associated Press Radio for three administrations. He later worked for more than a decade for ABC News based in Moscow.
He capped his nearly 40 year career with CNN, retiring as its senior international correspondent.
An acclaimed journalist, Rodgers covered stories such as U.S.-Soviet presidential summits, tensions in the Middle East and reactions to the September 11th terrorist attacks, including serving as an "embedded" reporter with U.S. troops during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
His reporting with the Army's 7th Cavalry led to his writing, "Sleeping with Custer and the 7th Cavalry: An Embedded Reporter in Iraq", which is set for release prior to his visit.
