The Global Media Research Center will sponsor an all-day event on Friday, March 24th at the Kleinau Theater entitled "'Race' & Media in Comparative Perspective: Europe, Canada and the Spanish Caribbean". The event will feature presentations by three experts in this field of research.

Charles Husband (Bradford University, England): 9:00-10:30 a.m. Presentation title: "British/Bradfordian/Pakistani/Muslim: Identity, Media and the Public Sphere in Britain".

Yeidy Rivero (Indiana University, Bloomington): 10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Presentation title: "Televisual Mestizaje: Representing Race and Nation in Puerto Rico's Commercial Television".

Yasmin Jiwani (Concordia University, Montreal): 2:00-3:30 p.m. Presentation title: "Discourses of Denial: Mediations of Race, Gender and Violence in Multicultural Canada".
