The Global Media Research Center sponsored a presentation by Manuel A. Perez Tejada (PhD candidate, University of Kansas) entitled Never Seen Before: Contemporary Mexican Documentaries and Film Distribution in Mexico on Wednesday, April 11th.
Through an analysis of film distribution practices in Mexico, this presentation points out the factors that marginalize the circulation of Mexican documentaries in their own territory. These documentaries have helped to ensure a diversity of voices, both social and political in the Mexican public sphere. In order to ensure this diversity, it is crucial to understand how Mexican documentaries can gain access to larger Mexican audiences.
