Friday, October 21st @ 3:00 pm Communications Building, Room 1011 (Anechoic Chamber) Masters students in the College of Mass Communication and Media Arts are performing a live work for Internet and radio titled There and Back Again on Friday October 21st, at 3:00 pm in the Communications Building, Room 1011 (Anechoic studios). This unique collaboration between the Future Places Festival in Porto Portugal and CMCMA graduate students will take place live in Carbondale, Illinois and Porto, Portugal via the Internet, as a part of Radio Futura. The Future Places Festival is a digital media arts festival that asks a single question, “…if digital media can do so much for global communication, knowledge and creativity, how can it contribute to local cultural development?” Graduate students currently enrolled in professor Jay Needham’s Audio Arts Studio course have conceived of a live sound work that combines elements of radio drama, sound art and live improvisation. There and Back Again will be performed live to Portugal over the Internet, where it will then be broadcast on local FM radio in Porto. |
