Civic Soul enables residents and citizen groups to share information, policy proposals, and action options regarding local-regional concerns. Four pilot programs are in production in 2014-2015: Civic Justice ~ Independent Living ~ Save the Levees, Save the Future ~ What's Holding Up the Cache Flow?
Experiencing Environs: The project develops interdisciplinary approaches to learning about and experiencing the rich environment of Southern Illinois, through field study trips, soundwalks, arts experiences that take place in IG’s yearly program.
Southern Illinois Arts advances collaborative partnerships among artists, gallery owners, museum directors, arts educators, SIU faculty and students with the aim of advancing the Southern Illinois arts world as creative and cultural industries. IG's initial work began in spring 2013 in Union County, with the plan to expand involvement gradually, in order to develop a network that could include over 600 artists residing in Southern Illinois south of ’64. Sustainability & Environmental Science, Policy, & Communication Project enables students, faculty, regional researchers, and artists to discuss, explore, and experience being engaged scholars by sharing knowledge in ways that educate and inform public discussion of sustainability and environmental issues.
Voices of Southern Illinois is a multi-faceted media initiative documenting and preserving stories of life throughout Southern Illinois.
