A call for lightning talks addressing TRUTH

Deadline to submit a proposal: March 4th, 2022

The College of Arts and Media invites proposals for lightning talks as part of the Festival of Arts and Ideas, April 8-15th, 2022

What is truth? Are all truth claims equally valid? Does truth correspond to reality? Is there such a thing as truth to materials? What is a personal truth or an artistic truth? What is a historical, or a scientific truth?

Does truth change over time? Is truth relative or absolute? Can lies tell the truth?

This call is open to all faculty and students of SIU. We seek lightning talks that focus on exploring Truth from a range of perspectives and approaches --- from the arts, humanities and the sciences; from literary, philosophical, psychological, medical, aesthetics and other forms of enquiry.

Each participant will have 7 minutes to present their lightning talk followed by Q&A.
Presented at Morris Library, Guyon Auditorium, Thursday, April 14th from 7-9PM.
