Congratulations to Julius Jefferson for taking 3rd place in the BEA* Festival of Media Arts, winning for his TV pilot Bastard, written in RTD 483 TV Writing.

Dante Orange's script, "Forever and Never" is a finalist in the Genre Celebration Festival, 2017.

Sarah Knauf, a senior in Cinema and Photography, has her film, "Beat," as an official selection at the Interrobang Film Festival in Des Moines, Iowa Mike Maxwell (MFA) screened Remnant Thoughts at the Fake Flesh Film Festival, Kamloops, BC, Canada (the film came out of a collaboration between Jennida’s Cinematography class and Mike Maxwell, shooting in the City Museum, St. Louis last February)

Craig Miller (2002-05) and Andrew Calise (B.A., 2016) in the State Capital, March 16, 2017, Springfield, IL. Andrew was job shadowing state capital photographer Russ Kimmons. Craig works as the Lead Photographer for the Illinois Senate Democratic Caucus.

Daniel Dryer, Nathaniel Fortmeyer, and Miranda Munguia are finalists in the 37th Annual College and High School Photography Contest run by the Photographer's Forum magazine. Congratulations!


Jamieson Deamer is a McNair Scholar for the 2016-17 year. He will be exploring New Wave Cinemas and Auteur theory, in particular in France, Japan, and the United States.

Joseph Kennedy and Davey Peppers were awarded undergraduate assistantships to apprentice with Walter Metz as film and TV critics.

Luke O’Neill’s documentary, Move is an official selection in the Festival of Recorded Movement, F.O.R.Min Vancouver, B.C. June 2016. The Festival explores the power of film as a way to show creative and engaging perspectives of movement form.

Kayla WintertonGene Park, Katelyn Schuetzenhofer, Rebecca MimlerNisha Margrum, and Aaron Sandage (2016 College Honorable Mention) were selected as finalist for the 36th Annual College & High School Photography Contest. Over 10,000 photographs from students in the U.S., Canada, and around the world were submitted. This year's judges were Henry Horenstein (RISD), Meryl Truett (SCAD), and Lee White (College of the Canyons).

Amanda Neuhouser's film, "A Letter to Myself", a documentary essay style film, has been accepted into the Sioux Empire Film Festival and the Girls Impact the World Film Festival.  Amanda is a junior in Cinema.


CP student Hannah Redenius of Minonk, IL has had one of her photos selected for the background photo on SIU ID cards. Beginning later this month, all university identification cards will include a background picture taken by Hannah Redenius of Minonk.

Congratulations to Briana Stodden and Dan Bach (and their faculty mentors, Jyotsna Kapur and Angela Aguyayo) for winning the competitive REACH award for 2015-16. Dan Bach will be working on the Rainmaker's Garden, a documentary on the local artist, Dave Dardis and Briana Stodden will work on a documentary on women in sports.

Ryan Lay’s still image, titled “Symbiosis” is on display at the Soulard Art Market & Contemporary Gallery, in St. Louis as part of the show, Express Yourself from March 13-April 3, 2015.

Kayla Winterton (2015) and Gene Park (2015), both seniors in photography, were finalists for Photographer's Forum's 35th Annual College & High School Photography Contest, sponsored by Nikon, USA.


Ramona Tucci was accepted into the Creative and Scholarly Saluki Rookies program at SIU Carbondale for the Spring of 2015.  She will be working with Dr. Jyotsna Kapur on Oscar Micheaux & early independent film making in Southern Illinois.
