Cindy Nelson has worked in television news broadcasting for more than 30 years.
Her professional experience includes working for local news stations like: KFVS in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and WLKY in Louisville, Kentucky. During her tenure at WLKY, Cindy Nelson won a regional Emmy. She has also worked for national and international news networks including: CBS, CNN and Al Jazeera Media Network in Qatar.
Nelson worked on the CBS News program "Up to the Minute" as a Producer/Writer and Editor. At CNN International, Nelson produced a weekly program called "Inside Africa," which looked at economic, cultural and political issues on the continent. She would later become a Supervising Producer at CNNI. Before returning to her alma mater, SIUC, Nelson spent the past four and half years at Al Jazeera English. She was a Program Editor for the network. Nelson was part of a Emmy nominated team for AJE's coverage of the Nepal Earthquake in 2015. She is a native of Southern Illinois, her hometown is Tamms in Alexander county. Nelson holds a B.A. from the Radio-TV program.
