Emeritus Faculty - Cinema and Photography

David came to SIUC in 1969 to teach fine art photography, having received a BA in Philosophy and an MFA in Photography from Ohio University. Before teaching, he worked as a corporate photographer for Armco Steel for 5 years.. He served as Chair of the Department from 1984 to 1991, when he stepped down to continue teaching. David retired in 1999, but still continues to photograph and exhibit. His work is primarily documentary, with a focus on the small towns of the rural midwest. Preferring to work in analog black and white, he still make his large scale prints in his home darkroom.
